The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is a new digital system being introduced later this year (2025) to make border checks in Europe faster and more secure. It will replace the manual stamping of passports for non-EU travellers entering and leaving the EU or Schengen area.
When the system goes live, you’ll need to:
- Scan your passport at border control
- Have your photo taken
- Provide fingerprint scans
Passport control checks might take several minutes, especially during peak travel periods, so please allow extra time and be prepared for possible delays.
You can find more details on the ABTA website.
