My flight was delayed. Can I get compensation?

Modified on Wed, 9 Apr at 12:13 PM

Whether you can get compensation depends on different factors. The rules are part of European law. You can find the most up-to-date information on this website.

How do I request compensation?

If you think you have the right to compensation, you can request it directly from the airline you flew with. Most airlines have a form or contact option for this on their website.

Please keep these important tips in mind:

  • Submit the form for each person: Many airlines do not accept group requests per booking, even if that seems possible. If you submit it per booking, your claim might be refused.
  • Choose the correct form: Sometimes there are separate forms for EU compensation and for extra costs (like food or hotel stays).
  • Flying from or to a country outside the EU? For example, Turkey or Egypt? Then EU rules do not apply to both flights. Still, we recommend always submitting a claim to the airline.
