In cases where you as a passenger experience dissatisfaction during the cruise beyond your own responsibility and the cruise line wants to offer you something to ease the pain, they can offer you an 'onboard credit'. An onboard credit is a virtual amount that is on your keycard. You can spend this in a restaurant, a shop or other paid activities on board of the cruise ship.
